Oscoda Township board appoints Nicole Tregear supervisor in 4-2 vote

The board vote installing Tregear as supervisor recorded YEAS from Linderman, Cummings, Tregear and Fortner and NAYS from McGuire and Tait. The motion to appoint Tregear was made and carried during the meeting held at Robert J. Parks Library.
The appointment followed a regular agenda that included consent items and departmental reports. Several members of the public offered comments after the vote. David Carmona congratulated Tregear and asked the board to publicize a homeless population count and to consider creating a master calendar on the township website; Kelly Brown also congratulated Tregear and urged the township to coordinate with the AuSable Township DPW on water issues and look into grant opportunities.
Following the appointment, the board took related personnel steps. It authorized interim superintendent duties: payroll approval at the treasurer level, purchase requisition authority at the clerk and treasurer level, clerk access to superintendent email/voicemail/mail, and designation of the treasurer as a second signer on documents as needed. The board also directed staff to post for letters of interest for the superintendent position for two weeks and scheduled a work session to develop a job description and salary range before formal action.
Board members offered brief remarks after the appointment. Mr. Cummings and Mr. Linderman expressed congratulations and an intent to work together under a “Team Oscoda” approach; Ms. McGuire and Ms. Tait recorded their opposing votes. The meeting adjourned at 9:49 p.m.
The board will consider the Northern Assessing contract at its Feb. 10 meeting and continue recruitment and job-description work at upcoming work sessions.
