A city staff member identified in the meeting as Josh provided an update on the municipal master plan project, saying a principal from the consulting firm, Nick Davis, will take over and produce a redraft addressing outstanding issues.
“He committed to making sure that we get this across the finish line in the right way,” Josh said, and reported that the firm will provide a text (Word) redraft by the end of the month. Staff and the community board will review the document in August; the timeline presented anticipates Planning Commission review in October or November and a council hearing before the end of the year.
Josh told the council that the current draft had proven difficult to review because it left fundamental questions unaddressed and that the revised deliverable will emphasize an implementation section and clearer, text‑focused edits for easier review. Council members asked whether the timeline required significant re‑work; staff said the rewrite should be faster and more precise.
No vote was required; the report was informational and sets expectations for a substantive redraft and a clearer pathway to Planning Commission and council consideration.
