"Predominantly, it's helping citizens on a day to day basis with any calls they might have about zoning or planning concerns," Doty said, listing tasks that include preparing staff reports and processing hearing applications for the planning and zoning board and the city commission. "That would be for things like a variance, tree removal, things of that nature."
The host of the program introduced Doty as a recent hire and encouraged residents with questions to contact the city's Planning and Building Department. The host noted Doty has worked at the city for "three months" and said he was hired away from the county.
Doty also said the office is responding to changes from the most recent legislative session. "We've had a very active legislative season, and we're trying to adapt to the changes. And we'll be amending our code to address those soon," he said, indicating staff will prepare local code updates to align with new state law.
The program ended with the host thanking listeners and inviting them to the next Monday session.
