Denton County commissioners approve routine contracts, grant amendment and $1.99 million road contribution

The Denton County Commissioners Court on Tuesday approved a series of routine purchases, contracts and interlocal agreements, and scheduled a public hearing on a commercial replat.
The court unanimously approved an interlocal cooperation agreement with the town of Trophy Club committing $1,986,905 from county unincorporated roadway project funds toward the Bobcat Boulevard project. The judge said the contribution would be transferred to traffic mitigation and roundabout work associated with the project.
The court also approved Amendment No. 8 to a Texas Department of Health and Human Services STD/HIV DIS prevention grant, adding $139,518 and extending the contract term through Feb. 28, 2027. "Thank you," the judge said after the vote; the motion carried unanimously.
Other approved items included an estimated $156,000 annual purchase of tires, tubes and related supplies under BuyBoard Cooperative contract No. 72924; an award of printed materials to Office Machines Inc.; and authorization to advertise specifications for electrical and generator upgrades (CSP 262910) and to appoint an evaluation committee for that solicitation.
The court accepted $31,747.76 in Amazon vouchers donated through the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool for employee safety equipment and approved replacement of older Constable Precinct 2 vehicles with 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe PPVs. The court also approved a business-associate subscription agreement for Denton County Public Health with TeleTask Inc., and a mutual-aid agreement with the ASPCA for emergency animal sheltering and disaster response support.
On personnel matters, Gustavo Hernandez of human resources reported a set of hiring actions: one new hire in adult probation; one promotion in the district attorney’s office; one new hire in Justice of the Peace Precinct 2; three new hires in the sheriff’s office (two detention-officer I positions); one rehire in the sheriff’s office; and one demotion in the sheriff’s office.
The court scheduled a public hearing for Aug. 4 at 9 a.m. to consider the Meadows Commercial Replat (Block B, Lots 2 R1 and 2 R2), a 3.104-acre site in Commissioner Precinct 4. The court also approved the purchase of a single-duty weapon by retired Lt. Jesse Wyman following his honorable retirement on June 26, 2026.
