Public Works Director Kris Alesch told the Early City Council on Aug. 6 that the municipal building experienced HVAC failures during late-July heat, with indoor temperatures reaching '85 or more degrees' at times. Alesch said the library's unit—more than 30 years old—was replaced and the clerk's window air unit was also replaced; he recommended adding an additional unit to reduce load during peak summer temperatures. The council instructed staff to repair the rotted opening around the clerk's unit before winter rather than add a new permanent unit immediately.
Alesch also reported that the South City sign grant project needs to be moved farther north because the existing sign sits on Sac County property. The council agreed with his recommendation to relocate the sign onto City property to preserve grant eligibility and avoid encroachment on county land.
No specific project schedule or cost estimates for the HVAC repairs or sign relocation were provided in the meeting record.
