WJCC staff recommend purchase of 10 replacement school buses for $1.63 million; board will vote in August

As part of the division's capital and transportation plan, transportation staff presented a request to purchase 10 school buses from an approved vendor under state contract at an estimated cost of $1,628,956.
Marcellus Snipes presented the item and said the purchase would replace eight 77-passenger buses and two 53-passenger buses as part of the division's replacement schedule (the state recommends replacing buses every 15 years). Sonny Merriman was identified as the approved vendor under state contract E194-90742.
The superintendent recommended the board review the purchase request and be prepared to vote at the Aug. 4 meeting.
Next steps: the board will consider the purchase on Aug. 4; if approved, procurement will proceed under the referenced state contract.
