Board extends two student expulsions and approves district settlement after closed session

Trustee Frutos made the motion to extend the expulsion, Trustee Rodriguez seconded it, and the board approved the motion on a 5–0 roll-call vote. The board then similarly extended the expulsion for case number 2024.09 (citing multiple Education Code provisions listed in the report); that motion was made by Trustee Sandoval, seconded by Trustee Rodriguez and approved 5–0.
The board also announced approval of a settlement agreement between petitioner number 314589 and the Santa Paula Unified School District; that item likewise passed on a unanimous 5–0 vote.
The board did not discuss disciplinary specifics in open session beyond the formal motions and the Education Code references announced by the board president. The meeting then moved into the regular public agenda.
