Tama County supervisors set official meeting-posting sites to comply with new state rule

The Tama County Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution June 29 designating where the county will post notices of its meetings to comply with recent changes to Iowa’s open-meetings requirements.
RESOLUTION 6-29-2026A specifies that, beginning July 6, 2026, agendas must be posted at least one full business day prior to meetings on the bulletin board in the hallway of the Tama County Administration Building, on the south exterior glass door of that building, and on the county website (tamacountyiowa.gov) under the supervisors department. The resolution also requires the Board to re-designate posting locations annually at its organizational meeting.
The measure was adopted by roll call; Supervisors Curt Hilmer, David Turner, Heather Knebel, Mark Doland and Curt Kupka voted aye. Auditor Karen Rohrs is charged with posting agendas as specified.
The resolution cites a change in Iowa’s open-meetings statute that requires meeting notices to be publicly visible for at least 24 hours prior to a meeting. The Board’s action formalizes where the county will place those notices and sets a recurring annual check at the January organizational meeting to confirm or change the locations.
