Commission approves $4.6 million contract to rebuild two lift stations and replace force main

Mayor Josh Levy introduced the item and public utilities staff said one lift station is in Oakwood Plaza and the other is adjacent to the ML King Community Center; the force main to be replaced crosses a small bridge in Oakwood Plaza. Commission members said the upgrades are much needed for the city's drainage and wastewater infrastructure.
Commissioner Gruber moved to approve the contract and Commissioner Hernandez seconded. The commission approved the item by unanimous voice vote; the meeting transcript records a voice vote rather than a recorded roll call.
City staff said the project will address aging equipment and improve system reliability in the affected areas. Work will proceed under the terms of the approved contract once final documentation is executed.
