At the April 9 meeting the Board of City Commissioners approved multiple municipal orders and actions in a series of largely procedural votes.
The commission authorized the mayor to submit the FY2026 Federal Transit Administration grant application for operating costs, preventative maintenance, paratransit service, maintenance, payroll and capital expenditures for the Ashland bus system (Item B). The board approved a municipal order to accept a donation of a World War II memorial located on city land and adopted a municipal order authorizing the city’s participation in opioid litigation settlements affecting Kentucky jurisdictions.
The board also approved the Ashland/Boyd County/Calipsburg Office of Emergency Management Emergency Operations Plan, repealing Ordinance No. 74, Series of 2014. The mayor requested concurrence on appointments to the Ashland Park Board (Derek Runyon; Susan Hunt), the Ashland Tennis Commission (Lindy Loman; Melanie Thompson; Preston Freeman; Clayton Hill) and the Human Rights Commission (Judy Robinson; Faith Fountain); the commission approved the slate.
Finally, commissioners moved into an executive session to discuss a property acquisition after a motion, second and voice vote.
All of the above were carried by voice votes recorded as 'All in favor say aye' with no recorded formal roll-call tallies in the meeting transcript.
