Rugby club attendee urges board to reinstate team to parks program, requests July 25 field reservation

During the public-comment portion of the April pre-meeting, Brad asked the board to reinstate the Alliance Rugby Club in the Parks and Recreation program and to reserve two multipurpose fields for a July 25 qualifier event.
Brad said the club was “unfairly removed from the agreement,” disputed assertions that the club caused field damage and said he had not seen proof of the alleged damage. He also told the board he had pursued adding the issue to a council agenda and that he had been told by some council members they were unaware of the rugby club’s removal. "I feel that we were unfairly removed from the agreement... to this day, I still don't have any proof that there was field damage on the new field," Brad said.
Brad requested a July 25 field reservation for two multipurpose fields for adult and high-school 7-on-7 rugby qualifiers that feed into national playoffs. He also said the club had complied with previous requests from the parks staff and had won a bid to host an Eastern Regional Playoff that it can no longer host locally.
The chair responded that staff had taken notes and that the issues Brad raised would be referred to staff for further review and, where appropriate, to council. No vote or formal reinstatement occurred during the meeting.
Board members indicated staff and council are already reviewing related issues and that staff would follow up on the specific requests Brad made.
