Council authorizes award for 2nd Street and 2 Line Street paving to low bidder

The Natchitoches City Council on May 26 approved Ordinance 019 to award the 2nd Street and 2 Line Street concrete pavement replacement project. The ordinance records that the Louisiana legislature appropriated $2.2 million for planning and construction of the project and that bids were received on April 30.
According to the ordinance text, three bids were received: Skyflex Truck and LLC (low bid, $2,315,156), Regional Construction LLC ($2,396,884.50) and Apex Construction ($3,599,141.80). The city engineer recommended awarding the base bid plus additive alternates to the low bidder. "Skyflex was the lowest," a council member said during the meeting. The council authorized the mayor to award the contract to the low bidder subject to state approval.
Council members noted that the project fit within the state capital allocation and included the required city match. The bid review committee named in the ordinance text included the purchasing director, public works director, finance director, and a council representative.
The ordinance was adopted by roll call vote. The award remains subject to the approvals and conditions listed in the ordinance and state review.
