S4 said the partnership reduces local cost compared with commissioning an independent study that could exceed $100,000.
The commission reviewed a sidewalk inventory completed by Dan Knight, assistant public works director, who graded sidewalks across the city from A to D. Members recommended that the sidewalk inventory be used to update plan exhibits and to help prioritize maintenance versus new construction. Chair S1 noted the draft plan currently lists specific streets for sidewalk replacement but that the upcoming 2024–25 budget includes a $100,000 line for broader sidewalk improvements.
Members also discussed the Cross Kentucky Master Trail plan and whether Woodford County should identify potential tie‑in corridors (for example, a connection from Shaker Town toward Perryville battlefield). S2 advised that most Cross Kentucky segments are proposed and have long buildout timelines, and suggested staff contact Bluegrass AD or the state (Troy Hearn) to clarify current status.
The commission agreed to include proposed future trail linkages and sidewalk connectivity as planning tasks or action items so the county can request or coordinate construction when state or developer opportunities arise. Staff will prepare updated maps and an exhibit tying the sidewalk inventory into recommended future projects and include options for how developer contributions or conditions of approval could be used to construct corridor segments.
