Atkinson Conservation Commission meets Feb. 25: non-public session, routine approvals and event planning

The Atkinson Conservation Commission conducted routine business at its Feb. 25 meeting, approving previous minutes, entering a non-public session on pending litigation, and discussing trail maintenance and upcoming events.
Vice Chair Bill Steele moved to approve the Jan. 28 minutes; the motion was seconded by Secretary Suzie Newman and approved with a recorded vote of 6 yes, 0 no and 1 abstention. Later the Commission entered a non-public session under RSA 91-A:3 II(e) to consider pending litigation; the roll-call vote to enter non-public was 7-0-0. After returning to public session at 8:00 p.m., the Commission voted 7-0-0 to seal the non-public minutes.
Chair Paul Wainwright updated members on a wildlife-friendly culvert mitigation plan being drafted by the town’s environmental consultant and reported Keach-Nordstrom is assisting with property-line work; potential encroachment issues will be discussed with the Town Manager and neighbors. Member John Fournier reported Slade All-Persons Trails have seen snowshoeing and walking activity, and Scouts (Troop 9) will help with spring trail work and habitat projects. Secretary Suzie Newman said a pollinator event initially planned for April will likely be postponed and that the Commission should begin planning Atkinson Day (Sept. 12).
The meeting adjourned at 8:35 p.m. after a motion by Vice Chair Steele that passed 7-0-0. Minutes were recorded by Recording Clerk Gretchen Grosky.
