Eagle Township board approves McKenna zoning contract amendment and hires assessor at $28,992

The Eagle Township Board took several administrative and governance actions at its May 19 meeting, approving consulting and personnel measures intended to move planning and election tasks forward.
The board approved an amendment to the existing contract with McKenna to assist with adopting a permanent zoning ordinance, as requested by the Planning Commission to support changes including a Lot Boundary Application addendum. That motion carried.
On personnel, the board approved an At-Will employee agreement for Jesse Truitt to serve as township assessor effective July 1, 2026, with an annual salary of $28,992 (monthly $2,050) for fiscal year 2026-27. The motion to authorize the supervisor to sign the agreement carried.
The board accepted updates to the Board Policy regarding meeting packets and approved a budget amendment that shifted $1,000 between elections line items to accommodate early-voting postcard mailing changes; the minutes state there is no change to the overall General Fund balance. Trustees also approved signing the Michigan Townships Association Principles of Governance pledge.
Other items noted without action included the Grand Ledge Master Plan response, summer tax newsletter, MPSC PA233 appeal and Public Safety Revenue Sharing.
