The Eagle Township Planning Commission is pursuing a major amendment to 17 sections of the Interim Zoning Ordinance, including updates related to data centers, Planning Commission Chair Brad Rich reported at the March 17 meeting.
The Planning Commission has scheduled a public hearing for March 31, 2026 on a rezoning application to change a parcel from agricultural (A) to mineral resource (MR). The commission also asked the board to review the Eagle Township Land Division Ordinance in light of changes in the Michigan Land Division Act.
On the board agenda, Trustee Rob Currie moved, supported by Trustee Michelle Hoppes, that the township concur with the minimum standard of the Michigan Land Division Act and not grant parcel splits above what the state law allows. The board approved the motion and then approved referring the matter to the township attorney to draft updated land-division ordinance language and to determine whether additional updates are needed before March 24, 2027.
Supervisor Troy Stroud also reported that the Clinton County Road Commission recommended a Clintonia-to-Grand River route rather than Clintonia-to-Howe for a proposed gravel-pit access route associated with a rezoning application. The board directed the supervisor to correspond with the township lawyer regarding the draft Grand Ledge 2026 Master Plan and approved having McKenna draft a formal response for review before the master plan comment period ends May 15, 2026.
The minutes record these items as ongoing planning work and legal review rather than final land-use approvals; the Planning Commission public hearing on March 31 is the next scheduled public step on the rezoning request.
