Eagle Township board approves audit engagement, cemetery contract and budget reallocations

At its March 17, 2026 meeting, the Eagle Township Board authorized multiple contracts and approved budget adjustments.

The board approved a 2026 Audit Engagement Letter with Siegfried Crandall for a base cost of $6,500; the minutes note an optional verbal audit report would cost $500 if requested. The clerk was authorized to sign the engagement letter.

Separately, the board approved a three-year cemetery maintenance contract with Schaefer Farms, LLC for mowing, trimming and seasonal cleanup at Niles Cemetery at an annual cost of $8,600. The contract was approved by roll-call vote with no recorded no votes.

The board also approved Clinton County Road Commission (CCRC) contracts for FY 2026–27 and the monthly bill payment list. The minutes record a budget amendment for FY 25–26 that reallocated $150 to supplies for a board copy/print stipend offset by a $150 decrease in miscellaneous, moved $3,000 into professional services for McKenna and offset that with a $3,000 decrease in miscellaneous, and rebalanced Emergency Services accounts (including a $1,200 reallocation between operating expenses and capital outlay and a $150 reallocation for legal fees). The motions were recorded as carried with no change to projected ending fund balances.

The board also agreed to contribute $500 for FY 2026–27 to the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Unit to address an increase in drug activity across Clinton, Ingham and Eaton counties.
