County renews Area 5 home companion contract with Granite County Medical Center

Doris Gilbertson, formerly CEO at the medical center, introduced the hospital’s staffing changes and confirmed a new interim CEO was in place. Rachel Johnson, who oversees Area 5 services, summarized client counts and operational details: she said the program averages 16–18 clients per month, totaled roughly 141 service hours some months, and serves residents across the county. Johnson also reviewed the grant structure for the next funding year and the county’s required contribution, noting the program is administered through Area 5 and that the hospital currently manages HR and day-to-day operations.
Commissioners discussed contingency plans if the hospital could no longer administer the program and were told the county could resume administration without major disruption. After discussion the board voted to renew the contract for the next fiscal year and authorized staff to finalize signatures and return the signed contract to county staff for routing to state grant administrators.
The motion passed by voice vote; commissioners asked staff to ensure the county has a plan to assume administration if circumstances change and to notify the commission of any required contract amendments.
