Pat Lefebvre, appearing for the school board, provided estimates: he said the village’s current share of maintaining the natural‑grass field is roughly $48,000 per year and that an artificial turf surface would lower the village’s maintenance share to about $6,000 per year. Pat also outlined builder's‑risk and property insurance deductibles being discussed for the construction phase and noted some limits and sublimits for named windstorm and flood exposure.
Many residents urged the council to insist on explicit caps and clear allocation of uninsured and long‑term liabilities before approving a long‑term (20‑year) amortization agreement. Council members said they want a face‑to‑face public meeting with the school board that lists specific sticking points. The council voted 5–0 to request a joint meeting and to provide the school board with a list of specific items to be discussed; staff and the mayor said they will coordinate schedule and provide the school board the compiled list of questions and concerns from the meeting video and public testimony.
School‑board representatives emphasized the project timeline and said permitting and contractor engagement were progressing; staff warned the council that delays in a signed interlocal agreement could jeopardize the contractor’s intended schedule for delivering turf for the next season. The council asked staff to collect the outstanding financial and insurance information and seek a joint public meeting on a near‑term schedule.
