At the Jan. 14 meeting the clerk read two ordinances by caption as first readings and referred both to the Planning & Zoning Commission: o-2501-01 would allow a special use for a convenience store and gas station at 1830 North Columbia Street (property owner listed as Minh Kang; applicant Kareem Ali), and o-2501-02 would allow two additional gas pumps and a canopy at an existing convenience store at 196 Robertson Mill Road (owner listed as Patel J. Kershina). Both were recorded as first reads and referred for public hearing and Planning & Zoning review.
Council then considered a resolution authorizing a contract with Georgia Safe Sidewalks for sidewalk trip-hazard mitigation and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance work across portions of the city. Following a motion and second the clerk called the roll; the recorded responses were unanimous 'Aye' and the mayor declared the resolution adopted.
The council also approved a resolution authorizing an agreement between the City of Milledgeville and Old Phoenix Center LLC for the purchase of real property; that resolution likewise passed by roll call with recorded unanimous 'Aye' responses.
The ordinances were only read by caption and referred; no Planning & Zoning recommendation and no final ordinance votes occurred on Jan. 14. The sidewalk contract and property purchase resolutions were approved and recorded with roll-call assent from the council.
