Mayor Linda Johnson presented her nominations for internal ad hoc working groups and a slate of delegates and alternates to outside bodies during the April 13 Cerritos City Council meeting. She told the council she had structured ad hoc committees (budget/finance, personnel, policy and procedure) and listed delegates for regional bodies including Gateway COG, JPIA and the California League of Cities.
City Clerk Cindy Nava reviewed the process and staff recommendation for public posting of appointments. After the mayor moved and a councilmember seconded, the council voted 5–0 to approve the nominations.
Johnson also nominated an appointee for the City Celebrations Committee. The council approved the mayor’s choice; the new appointee, who stated their name while taking the oath, was sworn in by the city clerk. Mayor Johnson congratulated the new appointee and thanked council members for their service.
The actions were procedural votes to fill vacant advisory positions and to direct the city clerk to post required disclosure forms online so appointees and the public have contact information and Fair Political Practices Commission disclosures.
The council’s approvals were unanimous on both the committee and appointment items; no substantive objections or amendments were recorded.
