The Tinicum Township Board of Supervisors on June 2 directed staff to circulate a draft Groundwater Ordinance to the Ground Water Committee, Planning Commission and township engineer for review and to hold several dedicated meetings to refine the draft before sending it to the Planning Commission.
Solicitor Scott Holbert said the Ground Water Committee used Nockamixon’s ordinance as a model and sought to produce a technically sound draft with necessary elements included. Chair Eleanor Breslin urged the Board to follow a staged review—working through sections in focused meetings so the ordinance is near‑final by the time it reaches the Planning Commission.
Supervisor Todd Quinby asked whether the draft addressed rehabilitation efforts such as hydro‑fracturing rejuvenation of existing wells; the Board agreed that the ordinance should account for well rehabilitation but did not finalize language tonight. Holbert and Manager Danko will coordinate meetings with committee members and the township engineer to refine specific provisions.
The Board approved a motion directing the manager to distribute the draft and set up a series of review meetings; the motion passed unanimously.
