The Brimfield Township Board of Trustees on July 7 adopted Resolution No. 2025-212 to amend the distribution of Brimfield Township–City of Tallmadge Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) funds for the first half of 2025.
The resolution reduces the amount allocated to each of the township Police, Fire and Road departments from the first-half 2025 JEDD payment by $15,000 and directs that the combined $45,000 be placed into the Township’s General Fund. The Board recorded that the change follows advice from the State of Ohio Auditor’s Office and said the township intends to use second-half 2025 JEDD distributions to replenish department allocations.
Trustee Nicholas Coia moved to adopt the resolution; Trustee Sue Fields seconded. The recorded vote shows Coia and Fields voted “yea” and Trustee Mike Kostensky was absent; the motion passed and the resolution was adopted on July 7, 2025. Section 2 of the resolution authorizes the Township Fiscal Officer to take any necessary steps to implement the reallocation, and Section 4 states the resolution takes effect upon adoption or after the earliest period allowed by law.
The resolution cites the Brimfield–Tallmadge JEDD contract dated July 7, 2003 as the source of the distributions and records the Board’s finding that actions were taken in an open meeting consistent with legal requirements. The minutes include standard attestation language and signature lines for the Trustees and the Fiscal Officer.
No further discussion or public comment is recorded in the emergency meeting minutes. The Board adjourned at 4:39 p.m.
