Bruce English, partner of applicant Deborah Patterson White, told the board the house sits roughly 400 feet from Edson Road on a 10‑acre parcel and faces Interstate 76. English said the parcel’s topography and features — steep hills and slopes, a wet pasture at the bottom of the hill, a heavily wooded west side, and the locations of the septic system and well — make alternative outbuilding sites impractical. He added the family recently sold an adjacent lot that contained a garage, leaving them without an existing outbuilding. English said the house is visible from Edson Road only during the winter months.
The applicant requested relief from Resolution Section 510.03(A)(3), which disallows accessory buildings in the front yard. The proposed structure is a 24‑by‑32 foot pole barn; Bruce English said it would sit about 380 feet from Edson Road.
Sean Phillips moved to grant the variance as requested; Vince Murdocco seconded and all members voted in favor (motion #2025-29). The board’s approval allows the applicant to proceed with permitting and construction consistent with any building‑code requirements.
The board will address any permit or plan details with staff during the usual permitting process.
