Brimfield fiscal officer to retire; trustees reject proposed successor

Later in the meeting Trustee Mike Kostensky moved to appoint Tom Johnson as Fiscal Officer, effective Aug. 1, 2025; Trustee Sue Fields seconded the motion, which failed on a 1-2 vote (Kostensky yea; Fields no; Coia no).
The motions were recorded in the minutes as MOTION #2025-202 (accept retirement) and MOTION #2025-203 (appointment attempt). The minutes do not record additional discussion about other candidates or a timeline for a new appointment or recruitment beyond the motions taken at the meeting.
With the retirement accepted and the proposed appointment defeated, the board will continue to hold fiscal office responsibilities within the current statutory framework until a successor is appointed or elected.
