NJDOT recommends signage and markings at Route 206/Clove Road; Montague urges further measures if incidents continue

Mayor Zitone reported that the New Jersey Department of Transportation conducted an evaluation of the Route 206 and Clove Road intersection and recommended a package of safety improvements, including an advanced warning sign, an oversized STOP sign at Clove Road, enhanced chevrons (including double-stacked chevrons), new pavement markings and rumble strips, centerline markings through the intersection, and shoulder striping to visually narrow the travel lane.
Ms. Holstein welcomed Montague’s second request for an NJDOT re-evaluation and said the Township should advocate for a guardrail or protective barrier if additional incidents occur involving the residence at the intersection. Municipal Clerk Dana Klinger confirmed the township submitted a follow-up letter and that the county is coordinating sign fabrication and installation for related locations.
The Committee recorded the improvements as progress; no formal motion was required during the meeting, but members asked staff to continue coordination with NJDOT and the Sussex County Department of Public Works.
