The Salem City Parks and Recreation Board approved routine items and park use requests at its meeting.
A board member moved to approve the March 11 and March 16 park board minutes; Melissa seconded and the motion carried. Later, the board considered a request from the Fourth of July committee to use the park for a fireworks display and to place a 35-year time capsule in the park to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary. A motion to approve the committee’s park use and the time capsule, "of course, with approval from Melissa in location and how it gets set," was made, seconded, and approved by voice vote.
At the meeting’s close a board member moved to adjourn; the motion carried and the meeting ended.
The July 4 park use was approved subject to staff coordination on the exact location and logistics; no additional conditions or fees were specified in the motion.
