The Millcreek Township SD finance committee on April 13 reviewed and forwarded a proposed renewal of the food service management contract with The Nutrition Group and the related food service budget to the full board for final action.
Staff said the contract term would run July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, and presented projected food-service revenues of $4,356,072 and expenses of $4,595,889. The proposal includes district participation in the federal Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) that would provide free breakfast and lunch to all K–8 students while maintaining a free high‑school breakfast under a state initiative. "Kids really like the quality of the food," a school administrator reported, adding that schools have conducted student taste groups and heard positive feedback.
District staff also said some adult meal rates remain to be set pending state Department of Food and Nutrition guidance; preliminary estimates noted a minimum adult breakfast of roughly $3.05 and adult lunch near $5.05. The committee approved forwarding the contract, budget and rates proposal to the board meeting at the end of the month for final approval and a planned May/June vote on adult meal and a la carte pricing.
Staff announced an upcoming parent and staff meeting to gather input on the food program and encouraged community participation.
The committee’s move means the full board will consider the renewal, the food-service budgets and CEP participation at the next board meeting.
