Council gives first reading to three ordinances on annexation and committee rules; no discussion

The Salem City Council took first reading of three ordinances Monday.
City clerk Kohler read Bill 3704 and Bill 3705, each proposing annexation of adjacent territory into Salem City, Missouri. She also read Bill 3706, an amendment to section 110.41 of the Salem City Code to authorize subcommittees under the committee involvement committee. The mayor asked whether council members wished to discuss any of the items at first reading and none offered comment.
Because these were read at first reading with no further action recorded, the items remain pending according to the council’s ordinance process and will return to the agenda at the appropriate next step for second reading or further action.
