Wisner council adopts county emergency plan, confirms board appointments and forwards two Dinklage grant requests

The Wisner City Council on Monday approved a county emergency plan, confirmed multiple local board appointments and forwarded two community grant applications to the Dinklage Foundation.

Mayor Terry Soden opened the meeting and the council voted to adopt Resolution No. 2026-5, accepting the Cuming County Local Emergency Operations Plan. Chief Deputy Tim Schultz told the council the LEOP is a living document that can be updated for personnel changes or corrections. Barry Meyer moved to adopt the resolution and Andrew Schweers seconded; a subsequent roll call recorded unanimous ayes and Mayor Soden declared the resolution adopted.

The council also accepted the resignation of June Fox from the Wisner Housing Authority and appointed Beth Buss to that board. On the Community Redevelopment Authority, members approved the resignation of Trevor Cyboron and appointed Dawn Salmen; they also filled a vacancy following the passing of Russ Breitkreutz by appointing Jon Greve. Each appointment was approved by unanimous vote.

On community grants, the council approved two Dinklage Foundation grant applications for transmittal: an application from Wisner Cub Scout Pack 182 and an application from Wisner Community Development seeking funds for new Christmas decorations and banner updates. Barry Meyer moved to forward both applications to the foundation for final approval; motions carried by unanimous vote.

Monthly reports and other routine items were presented during the meeting but no additional formal actions were taken on them.

The council adjourned and scheduled its next regular meeting for Monday, July 6, 2026 at 6:00 p.m.; the published minutes contain a typographical error listing the date as 'July 96, 2026.'
