Pineville zoning commission recommends annexing 6.046-acre Military Highway parcel and zoning it R-1

The Pineville Zoning Commission voted to recommend annexing 6.046 acres at 2445 Military Highway into the city and to designate the parcel R-1, the commission’s most restrictive single-family residential zone.

At the meeting the chair read the petition describing the property as belonging to William Leatherman and Alvin Hernandez and located at 2445 Military Highway. Commissioners and the petition representative discussed utility service: the chair noted water is provided by Water District 3 and that the sewer system serving the property was "brand new." The chair said the city could pursue extending sewer service if problems arise but that it would require extensive work.

Commissioner Darren Barron moved to recommend the annexation and R-1 zoning, saying, "I'd like to make a motion to accept this, if I may." The motion was seconded, no one spoke in opposition, and the chair announced, "Motion carries." The commission emphasized it is a recommending body and will forward the recommendation to the Pineville City Council, which will consider it at its next meeting at 5:00.

The chair also clarified that R-1 is limited to single-family residential structures. The record contains no formal vote roll call by name; the commission noted a quorum was present and the motion carried without recorded no or abstain votes.

The commission had no further business and adjourned.
