The Town of Wayne Select Board opened a public hearing on an on-premises consumption liquor-license application for Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park campground and tabled consideration after discovering the application package lacked an on-premises map showing where alcohol would be consumed.
Chair (speaker 1) said the state packet included an off-premises diagram but no drawing showing the licensed on-premises area and signaled the board could not approve an incomplete application. "At the end of the hearing, I'm gonna suggest we table this because we can't consider it because there has been no map for people to consider to look at to have an input on the areas where you're requesting a license," the Chair said.
A campground representative (speaker 9) told the board they had not submitted the on-premises drawing at the time of the hearing and offered to provide a downloadable map as soon as they could; the board directed the applicant to send the map to Town Manager Shannon for distribution and public review.
Public commenters joining online supported seeing the full campground map before the board makes a decision; one online commenter, Betsy (speaker 10), said the map requirement addressed concerns she had raised previously.
The board voted to table the application to allow the applicant to submit the required on-premises map for public review; the motion carried 4-0. The board indicated it will reopen the public hearing when the complete application and map are available.
What happens next: The applicant will submit the on-premises diagram to the town (Shannon) for distribution to the board and the public; the board will schedule further consideration after the map has been posted for review.
