Council condemns mobile home at 107 Bell Road, grants owner 60 days to clear site

The city’s engineer characterized the property as a candidate for condemnation by neglect and recommended the council give the owner 60 days to voluntarily demolish and clear the site. “My recommendation remains that the property be condemned, property owner be given 60 days to voluntarily demolish and clear the site,” the engineer told the council.
Council members moved, seconded, and approved the recommendation on a voice vote. Staff noted the prior attempts at service and public notices and said the record will reflect there was no representative present. If the owner does not comply within the 60-day period the city may proceed with demolition and record associated charges as a lien against the property.
Next steps: staff will record the condemnation and monitor the 60-day compliance window; if the property is cleared staff will record satisfaction of the condemnation on the public record.
