Anna, president of Livingston Surf, told the council that the local competitive soccer club develops players from youth levels up to national‑academy nominations and asked the city to explore a formal partnership, shared facility agreements and potential field expansion.
"We want to bring to the city council to say, Hey, we want something formal to partner with you guys," Anna said, describing a volunteer‑run program that lists about 70 players and sends nominees to national development programs.
Administrator Hope Meza outlined the club’s youth‑coach scholarship program and presented several awards. Meza announced $500 scholarships to multiple student coaches and praised their academic performance and service. Treasurer Alejandra presented a surprise $2,000 scholarship from Manuel Viera and family to one scholarship recipient.
Anna also said the club would like to donate $1,000 to the city’s Recreation Department as a thank‑you for facility support. Council members praised the club’s volunteer model and the role youth sports play in keeping young people engaged. Mayor Pro Tem said staff would follow up with the presenters about next steps and potential partnership language.
The club requested study of shared use or expanded fields, formal recognition of Livingston Surf as an official competitive youth program and continued city support for coaching clinics and scholarships. No formal vote or funding commitment was made; staff and council members said they would coordinate further to determine feasibility and any required agreements.
