Fitchburg Disability Commission plans outreach at community fairs, notes staffing needs for Civic Days

The Fitchburg Disability Commission on June 10 reviewed recent outreach and scheduled upcoming events, including plans to staff booths at community fairs and to expand summer outreach.
Members reported the commission’s booth at the Seven Hills Fair in Devens on May 18 was well attended. Bill Tolos helped set up the booth and a participant named Emily staffed it for the event. The commission agreed to staff a booth at a Community Health resource fair scheduled for September as part of ongoing outreach to residents with disabilities.
Commissioners also noted they currently do not have enough members available to staff a table at the upcoming Civic Days block party. DJ Tardiff suggested the commission consider manning a table at one of the summer movie nights; Amy LeBlanc said she would circulate the movie-night dates to the group so members can sign up.
The outreach discussion emphasized bringing resources directly to community gatherings to improve awareness of disability-related services and supports. The commission did not set a formal assignment beyond circulating movie-night dates and committing to the September resource fair.
The commission adjourned at 10:44 a.m.; its next meeting is scheduled for July 8, 2026, in the West Room at Fitchburg City Hall.
