Chesterfield schools mark Youth Art and Music months, honor students and staff

The board opened its March 10 business meeting by celebrating the performing and visual arts across the division. Staff presenters described events for March and announced the CCPS mini museum display at Chesterfield Town Center, an All-County showcase for secondary fine- and performing-arts, and a virtual gallery for student work.
The board read and adopted two resolutions recognizing March 2026 as Youth Art Month and Music in Our Schools Month. Board members praised the district's programs and thanked arts educators.
The meeting included student recognitions: London Dill (elementary VSBA art winner), Niles Cardona Martinez (middle school winner), and Cindy Men (high school winner, artwork displayed). Matoaka High School's show choir performed "Let There Be Peace on Earth," and the board applauded the students and their director, Brad Berkeley. Additional recognitions included a district spelling-bee champion, engineering-team awards at Byrd High School, national recognition for turf-management work at Thomas Dale, Meadowbrook DECA's Monarch Market accomplishments, and food-bank partnership contributions.
Board members said the arts are an important part of district life and encouraged attendance at upcoming performances and events.
The meeting proceeded to public comment and further business after the recognitions.
