School board certifies closed session, approves student and multiple personnel recommendations; reverses one student decision

The Chesterfield County School Board reconvened in open session on March 10 and unanimously adopted a resolution certifying that only those public-business matters exempted by Virginia law were discussed in the closed meeting. The clerk read the certification in full before the board voted to adopt the resolution.

After the certification the board moved through a consent agenda that included approval of minutes, acceptance of grants and donations, recommended personnel actions, and recognition resolutions. The consent agenda carried on a recorded roll call.

The board then considered multiple student- and personnel-related items. A motion to uphold the superintendent's recommendation on student case numbers 2025-26/RE30–RE32 passed on roll call. The board also approved a sequence of personnel recommendations (case numbers 2025-26/56-HR through 61-HR) by roll call votes.

Separately, a motion was made and seconded to reverse the decision in case number 2025-26/02-PH; that motion passed on a roll call with one member recorded as Nay, and the presiding officer announcing that "the motion is reversed."

Votes at a glance (as read on the record): Anne Coker — Aye; Jennifer Darby — Aye on most motions but recorded Nay on the reversal motion; Dominique Chatters — Aye; Steven Pronto — Aye; Lisa Hudgins — Aye. The clerk called the roll for each motion and recorded the results.

The board concluded this portion of business without further public action on the individual cases; the motions adopted reflect the board's decisions on the superintendent's recommendations for the items presented.

The meeting later moved on to recognitions, public comment, superintendent reports, and other agenda items before adjourning.
