Walworth reviews water system projects and discusses 20% recommended sewer rate increase

Public Works Superintendent Chris Holt reported several water-system projects and maintenance updates at the Feb. 9 Walworth Village Board meeting: bids for the 2026 lead and galvanized private/public service line replacement program are expected toward the end of the month; Well #3 generator has been ordered and Alliant must be contacted to complete electrical work; Well #4 is undergoing cleaning; and the water tower has received power and heat upgrades.
The board also acknowledged that water rate increases went into effect on Jan. 15, 2026 and have been posted at Village Hall, the post office, the Village website and on Facebook.
On sewer matters, the Fox Water and Wastewater (FWWPCC) recommended a 20% sanitary sewer rate increase to align with its rates and discussed moving to monthly billing. Clerk/Treasurer Kellie Thelen will contact FWWPCC for clarification on billing frequency. The board approved replacing the cutter head for the sewer jetter at a cost of $1,929 on a motion from Trustee Matt Tanner with Trustee Chrissy Sara seconding, carried unanimously. PW Superintendent Chris Holt will seek quotes for a backup fog rod system for Sewer Lift Station #1, with potential use of TID funds pending clarification of the TID balance.
