Walworth board approves lead-service funding plan, rate changes and water infrastructure purchases

Clerk/Treasurer reported that the Public Service Commission approved a 3% water rate increase and a 12% sewer rate increase effective Jan. 15, 2026; the Clerk’s Office will post the rate changes at Village Hall and on the village website.
The board also approved a number of water-system purchases and upgrades by unanimous votes: purchase of 50 water meters (the minutes list the per-unit notation "@ $8.750" in the record), approval of a generator purchase for Well #3 for $65,016, and approval to install a cathodic protection system on the water tower with annual maintenance of $995.
The board discussed outstanding items from earlier replacement work including a final payment and supporting documents due from Rock Road. The lead replacement plan is intended to speed replacement of private-side lines to meet lending terms that provide forgiveness or favorable interest; the board did not specify a timeline for homeowner outreach or loan enrollment in the minutes.
Separately, the board approved a contract with KLM for plan review and inspections associated with a Verizon antenna installation; the $15,850 cost will be charged to Verizon. Trustee Steve Hovestol also reported that the Fox Water/Wastewater Pollution Control Center (FWWPCC) is facing a deficit and is proposing a rate increase; the board requested further information.
