The Village of Walworth Board unanimously appointed Kellie Thelen as Clerk/Treasurer at its Jan. 12, 2026 meeting. President Louise Czaja moved to appoint Thelen (motion A Hovestol/Sara); the roll-call vote recorded five ayes and the motion carried. Chief Ryan Milligan administered the oath of office.
The board approved a compensation package for the newly appointed Clerk/Treasurer that sets an annual salary of $67,500, a $2,000 payment upon completion of Treasurer certification (expected June–July), a $250 stipend for each election worked and a 6-month and annual review by the Finance Committee. The package was approved by unanimous motion (A Czaja/Sara).
Clerk/Treasurer Thelen reported auditors have follow-up questions on bank reconciliations and audit reports; the board authorized staff to continue working with the auditors. The board also approved posting a Deputy Clerk/Treasurer position with a starting wage of $55,000.
The compensation motion and the posting aim to ensure continuity in the village’s financial operations as Thelen completes required certifications. The Finance Committee will conduct the scheduled reviews and will report back on certification and any recommended adjustments.
