Long Range Planning reports outreach on cottage court and conservation land development models

The Town of Rye Long Range Planning committee reported at the June 9 Planning Board meeting that it held an outreach event on May 24 to introduce residents to Cottage Court (CCD) and Conservation Land Development (CLD) housing models.
The committee said 14 residents attended the event, which showed photographs and examples of existing and proposed CCD and CLD projects. Committee members and attendees raised questions about how smaller CCD homes and larger CLD homes might fit into Rye and discussed alternative approaches to increasing housing supply.
Chair Pat Losik referenced examples from Corey Caldwell and TFMoran as firms that have completed CCD and CLD projects elsewhere. The committee said it plans additional public outreach in the fall to continue the conversation about housing density in Rye.
