PHARR‑SAN JUAN‑ALAMO ISD will recognize students who earn College Board AP Scholar distinctions with special graduation cords at their senior commencement, a district staff member said.

Officials said the recognition is based on AP exam scores earned by the end of a student’s junior year and must be verified through official College Board score reports.
"Students who score 3 or higher on 3 AP exams earn the AP Scholar designation and receive a bridal blue cord," the staff member said. The district said students who achieve an average score of 3.25 on all AP exams, with scores of 3 or higher on four or more exams, will receive AP Scholar with honors and a Kelley Green cord.
For the highest level, the staff member said, "students with an average score of 3.5 on all AP exams with scores of 3 or higher on 5 or more of those exams or an AP Scholar with distinction receive a woven royal blue and kelly green cord." The district characterized the cords as a way to celebrate academic excellence and student dedication.
The district did not provide additional details about the number of students expected to receive each cord or about any ceremony logistics beyond the statement that cords will be presented during senior commencement. The College Board provides the AP exam scores that determine eligibility, and students’ recognitions are contingent on those official score reports.
