Board approves agenda and consent items; consent agenda carries two abstentions

The West Salem School Board approved the meeting agenda and the consent agenda during the livestream portion of the meeting.
At the start of the meeting a motion to approve the agenda was made and seconded; the chair called for the vote and the motion carried.
Later the chair read the donations included in the consent packet — a $3,757 donation to the Unsung Hero Scholarship Fund from the Sons of the American Legion; $100 from the Friends of West Allen Bangor wrestling; $20 from Cynthia and William Innis to the Random Acts of Kindness fund; $1,000 gifts (each) from Ashley for the Arts to several volunteer groups; a handmade blanket donation from Ashley Tauscher; and $1,270.77 from David Newman to the Outdoor Education Center. A motion to approve the consent agenda (minutes of Jan. 27 and the Jan. 30 special meeting, invoices and donations) was moved and seconded; the motion carried with two abstentions from members who were not present at the Jan. 30 special meeting.
No opposition was recorded on the consent vote; board members present and staff confirmed the abstentions during the roll call.
