Elkhart County commissioners award two bridge rehab contracts totaling $1.74 million

The Elkhart County Board of Commissioners on July 6 unanimously approved contracts to rehabilitate two county bridges, awarding McCoy Incorporated $554,681.04 for Bridge 193 on County Road 43 over Stony Creek and Milestone Contractors $1,186,415 for Bridge 347 on County Road 44 over Stony Creek.

Kyle Wagner, a representative of the county Highway Department, told commissioners that all bids had been reviewed by engineering and recommended the lowest bidders for each project. "McCoy Incorporated was the lowest bid," Wagner said, and engineering "did approve it," recommending award "at $554,681.04." For the second project Wagner recommended "Milestone Contractors for $1,186,415, and that is the lowest bid."

Commissioners asked about timing; Wagner said he did not know the exact start dates but said both projects are expected to be finished this year.
