Residents press council for flashing crosswalks near trails and schools

Councilmembers described an existing traffic‑calming program that relies on resident applications and neighborhood referenda and said the city has received several applications that are being reviewed. A councilmember also mentioned Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) funds and a winter/early‑year call for projects as possible funding sources. Staff and the sheriff's office have monitored intersections and increased enforcement at some sites while staff evaluates signage and other low‑cost safety enhancements.
Council asked staff to report back with cost and implementation options as part of budgeting and project calls for the coming cycle.
