West Baraboo board adopts zoning amendments, tourist rooming-house rules, staff hires and investment policy

The West Baraboo Village Board met Aug. 8 and unanimously approved a package of zoning, personnel and financial measures.
President Arndt called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and the board approved the posted agenda and the July 11, 2024 minutes. Brad Stuczynski provided a zoning and MSA projects update, as recorded in the minutes.
On formal actions, the board adopted Ordinance 24-10, which amends Chapter 17 regarding conditional uses in the village’s Commercial District. The board also adopted Ordinance 24-11, creating Chapter 24 of the Village Code to regulate tourist rooming houses. Both ordinances passed by unanimous vote.
The board approved Resolution 24-12, tentatively amending the village zoning map for a 0.02-acre parcel at 150 Shaw St.; the minutes record that the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved Resolution 24-13 to establish an investment policy and designate public depositories.
On infrastructure and operations, the board directed the village attorney and staff to review the scope of work and contract presented by USG Water Solutions; the motion to request that review passed unanimously. The board approved a DOT Highway 33 change order for A-1 in the amount of $7,200.00.
Personnel actions recorded in the minutes include approval of Jason Goll for the new position of Code Enforcement/Public Works Lead with a $1.00/hour increase, and authorization to hire an additional Public Works general laborer with a pay range of $22–$26/hour depending on CDL and water licensure. The board gave William Clary authority, with assistance from President Arndt and the village attorney, to complete the hire. All personnel motions passed unanimously.
The board approved all monthly expenditures and adjourned at 8:12 p.m. The minutes were submitted by Kathy Klein, Deputy Clerk/Treasurer.
