Finance/Personnel committee recommends sewer-rate increase, appraisal contract; defers investment-policy decision to Village Board

The Finance/Personnel Committee met July 11, 2024, and voted to recommend the Village Board approve a sewer rate increase, to move forward with a five-year exterior inspection contract, and to approve the month’s expenditures. Chairperson Arndt called the meeting to order at 6:01 p.m., and the meeting adjourned at 6:18 p.m.
The committee, composed of Chairperson Arndt and members Mohar and Allen, adopted the meeting agenda as posted. Member Mohar moved and Member Arndt seconded to adopt the minutes of the June 13, 2024 meeting with corrections; Member Allen abstained and the motion carried.
On substantive business, Member Mohar moved and Member Allen seconded to recommend the Village Board enter a contract with Accurate Appraisal for a five-year exterior inspection of properties; the committee voted unanimously to recommend the contract. Member Allen moved and Member Mohar seconded to recommend that the Village Board approve Resolution 24-11 regarding an increase in sewer rates; that motion also carried unanimously.
The committee voted unanimously on a procedural direction raised by Member Mohar and seconded by Member Allen to have the Village Board make a decision on an investment policy for the Village without first receiving information presented to the Finance/Personnel Committee. In addition, Member Allen moved and Member Mohar seconded a recommendation that the Village Board approve all monthly expenditures; the committee carried that motion unanimously.
The session concluded with Member Mohar moving to adjourn at 6:18 p.m., seconded by Member Allen; the motion carried. The minutes were recorded and signed "Respectfully submitted, Melissa Ryan, Clerk/Treasurer."
