Council approves housekeeping resolution to trigger RDA remittances tied to local solar project

Cody Dieter told the council there are three related resolutions that correct a clerical omission from last year and amend interlocal agreements so the county can 'trigger' the redevelopment agency (RDA) distribution for the Auto Leave solar project. "There are 3 resolutions that you will be considering tonight," he said, describing the paperwork that will allow the RDA to remit previously collected increments back to the city and the Box Elder County School District.
Staff explained the tax in question is personal property tax already paid to the county and currently held awaiting distribution. Once the council, the RDA and the school board adopt matching resolutions and the county processes them, the RDA will receive the increment and forward checks to the city and the district within roughly 30 days.
Council voted to adopt the resolution (25-24) and staff said the school district will consider its resolution at its next meeting; the RDA will take matching action in its session tonight.
What happens next: staff will transmit the adopted resolutions to the county for processing; checks are expected to be received and disbursed after the county completes its administrative steps.
