Planning commission approves General Plan edits, forwards plan to town council

The Planning and Land Use Commission of Castle Valley voted unanimously June 4 to adopt final edits to the town’s General Plan and to transmit the updated document to the Town Council.
Co-Chair Ryan Anderson opened a public hearing on the General Plan at 6:32 p.m., during which Mayor Jazmine Duncan recommended adding language recording the completion of the Castle Valley Creek culvert replacement project. Commissioners then approved three substantive edits during the regular meeting: adding the culvert project to the accomplishments section, removing the first bullet under the goals on page 13, and replacing the phrase “Design Craft” with the single word “Create” in the building-requirements bullet. The commission voted to send the amended General Plan to the Town Council for its consideration.
The changes were presented and moved for approval by Commissioner Dorje Honer and seconded by Commissioner Jeff Whitney; the motion carried unanimously. The commission also noted that the draft as posted to the packet did not include the appendix maps and said those appendices and maps would be included in the final version transmitted to the council.
Procedure next calls for Town Council review of the commission’s transmittal. The commission did not adopt a final effective date for the plan at its June 4 meeting; instead, it forwarded the revised draft and the appended maps to the council for the next step in the local review process.
