Florence board bans individual from city properties and directs attorney to draft moratoriums, update policies

At its Nov. 4, 2025 meeting the Florence mayor and board entered executive session to discuss a personnel matter involving the police dispatcher position. In executive session, Alderman Mason Herrin moved and Alderman Kyle Martin seconded a motion authorizing City Attorney Bobby Lingold to send a letter from the mayor and board informing Michael C. Rayborn that he will no longer be allowed on City Hall or Florence Police Department property; the motion carried with Aldermen Herrin, Martin and Sistrunk voting aye and Aldermen Banks and Grantham absent.

Back in open session, the board approved several policy-direction motions: it authorized the city attorney to update the board order concerning the moratorium on used car lots; directed the attorney to draft a moratorium limiting the number of service/gas stations in the city; and authorized the attorney to update the city's sick leave policy to mirror the state policy. The board also directed the city attorney to work with Mayor Trey Gunn on updating water and wastewater policies and associated fees. All motions in open session carried by unanimous vote as recorded in the minutes.
